I'm reminded of the story about the tax collection method
practiced by the King of Denmark.  When a ship passed through
the straits the king sent his men aboard to collect the tax;
the captain was asked to declare the value of the cargo.

If the tax collector decided that the value declared was
suspiciously low, he would tell the captain, "Very well, Sir.
I shall now purchase the cargo at your stated price,"  and the
king's well-armed boarding party would enforce the sale.

Just imagine the government auditor telling the appraiser,
"Very well, Sir; you just bought the piano from the Royal Museum
for _your_ appraised value!"  (He would want sales tax, too!)
