Re: Test Vacuum Source
By Brett Mohr

I would like to thank all who responded to my question on vacuum
source's. Les Smith, I am going to try your test for a leak free player
to see how my last restore worked. In the PLAYER PIANO SERVICING AND
REBUILDING BOOK by Arthur Reblitz, he say's that "a well restored pump
will hold suction for a minute or more ", I tryed this on my pump and at
best I could only get about 1/2 minute. Is this realistic ? I put in all
new leather gaskets sealed with shellac and phenol seal on all interior
parts that could be sealed. I just wondered how others have faired ? Also
Doug Rhodes, you talked about a water manometer, could you give me more
info on them (What is a good brand, Where do you find them, ect. ?)

I have downloaded all of the old digest's and am working my way thru
them. It was great to have them in a ZIPPED form Jody! It sure made it
a lot faster to F.T.P .

[ Editor's Note: Brett, Thanks for the feedback on the userfulness of
[ the ZIPPED files in the FTP Archive. I've taken this "reminder" to
[ update the archive. The Archive has been updated through 20Jan96, and
[ the December files have been ZIPPED up into 9512.zip
 [ Jody
