Help with 1927 Aeolian Duo Art 2m9r Pipe Organ
By Carl Dodrill

Dear Jody,

Could you see that the following message gets on the Automatic-Music
Internet? I would appreciate it. I, along with others, appreciate your
efforts on this endeavor. By the way, I have noticed more than one
e-mail address for you. If I should be using another address, please let
me know.

 [ Carl,
[ If you want the message to go to the group, the addresses:
 [
 [ rolls@foxtail.com
 [ automatic-music@foxtail.com
 [
[ are equivalent and imply "put it in the digest". The addresses
 [
 [ rollreq@foxtail.com
 [ automatic-music-request@foxtail.com
 [
[ are equivalent and imply "private conversation with Jody relating
 [ to the digest".
 [
[ A few of you have my "personal" e-mail address. I am trying to
[ discourage its use for discussions relating to the digest.

I have a 1927 Aeolian Duo Art 2m9r pipe organ which I have gotten to play
reasonably well from the key boards. I am now turning attention to
the player, but am having a great deal of difficulties. My rolls are in
good shape, and that is not the problem. With the help of Carl Kehret
here in the Seattle area, the paper feeding mechanism is now operating
quite smoothly as well. In addition, except for two adjacent notes that
play simultaneously (b12, c13), the Tester roll renders the expected
results on all notes on the manuals. The problem is that when you go
to play a roll of music, many notes are played which should not be played.
You can pick out the tune, but a number of simply wrong notes are being
played. I cannot figure out why.

Has anyone out there restored one of these players? I would appreciate
any help that you could give, including names of people you may know who
have worked on an organ of this type.

Thanks!
