Re: Stahnke Roll Archival Methodology (part 1)
By Wayne Stahnke

John:

This note should answer the questions you posed in the Automatic Music Digest
dated 96.03.06.

I use an inexpensive PC clone to capture the data. The interface consists of
special hardware that I designed for use in the Bosendorfer SE instruments,
now pressed into service of an entirely different sort. I use a proprietary
data format that I developed for the express purpose of storing and
manipulating roll images. The specification for the data format is embodied
in a C language driver file called ROLLFILE.C that you can get from Jody
Kravitz (just send him a note on the digest or at rollsreq@foxtail.com).

Jody is the expert on transporting files from one place to another. I have
so far been unsuccessful in sending them through America On-Line; instead, I
send them to Jody who oversees their dissemination. I assume Jody can solve
your problems. (As an aside: Many thanks, Jody, for your help and support in
this matter.)

Best Regards,

Wayne Stahnke
