Yup..... Totally agree. I'm lucky enough to have found
(East Germany about 15 years ago) a Model 200 Kalliope (Bowers p.110)
with 12 saucer bells. It was totally unrestored, but undamaged,
complete, and not working when I received it from Frankfurt via
Air Canada in 2 mammoth cardboard boxes, swimming in a bed of poly
peanuts. Like Larry, I did nothing more profound that clean it
up, oil it sparingly, and it came to life gloriously.

Like his, mine also plays with outstanding tone. I think
of it as being angelic. Of all the disk boses I've heard over
the past 25 years, I still believe the Kalliope has the finest
tone by a country mile. If you ever find one, go after it.
You will never regret it.

I was fortunate enough to acquire 10 disks (28") with it, and
all are absolutely stunning arrangements. It would be kinda
neat to acquire a few additional disks if anyone knows of
someone with a few spare.

Regards,

Terry
