Re: Sealing Pouches
By David Wasson

Hi Craig,¶
I have read your book on orchestrion building and have greatly enjoyed it.
I bought my copy from Paul Gottschalk. Paul is apparently a friend of yours
also. I visit Paul almost every summer on my way to or at the Mid-AM Band
Organ Rally. We listen to band organs and talk pneumatics for about two days
straight. It's great fun.¶
I have been writing an article for the MBSI Technical Journal and part of
the article discusses sealing pouches. I have had similar experiences with
rubber cement and have stopped using it for anything other than temporarily
fastening paper together. It has been my experience that pouches sealed with
rubber cement seem to always change character after about five or six years.
But I never could figure out why. Your comments on this subject have cleared
up a few of these mysteries for me. My question to you is could I have your
permission to quote some of your comments about rubber cement and mink oil.
(is mink oil for squeaky rodents?) I've not experimented with silicone grease
but its inclusion in my article would be also of great value.

                                            Sincerely,
                                            David F. Wasson
