In the course of the digest of April,10 you were asking about
"Stephen Von Hume". I think I can help you with some newer
information about him.

I looked into my personal archive and dug out a programme of
the 1994 Donaueschinger Musiktage. I was attending this festival
because Juergen Hocker had there a most impressive performance
of Nancarrows Study Nr. 40 for two player pianos which could be
presented live on two Ampico pianos for the first time ever, due
to an electro-pneumatic controller, that Horst Mohr and me had
built for this purpose. Horst and I have reported about that in
our introductions to the group before.

When I looked up the programme of these days I found on the pages
just following the contribution of Wolfgang Heisig to this festival
a very detailled biography of Stephan von Huene (ue like it is written
and not u Umlaut). Stephan presented an installation (Zauberfloete)
in a small pavillion in the beautiful park of the Count of Fuerstenberg,
that resides in Donaueschingen. He had placed some "towers" with flutes
and bells in the four corners of this pavillion. The instruments were
controlled by a computer, that sensed the presence and the movements
of the visitors.

Stephan von Huene is living in Hamburg since 1980 and is very well
acquainted with Gyoergy Ligeti (in this case oe stands for o Umlaut),
that lives also in Hamburg.
The composer Ligety is very fond of the oeuvre of Conlon Nancarrow.
Ligeti has also written compositions for player piano, including
pieces for two (synchronized) pianos.

PS: Investigating the rest of the Donaueschingen printed programme
I found a composer Manfred Stahnke, who at least part time
has lived in the US (Ill. and Ca.).
