1. I believe I've received a few attached files from this group.  They
   end up in my \TMP directory with no extension after the file name so I
   can't tell what kind of file it is.  One of them that I looked at looks
   like a zipped file.  If anyone here recognizes the file names I have
   listed below, I'll add the appropriate extension to the file name and
   deal with it from there.

2. I'm presently working on a Hoffman piano with a player in it that
   has never been rebuilt.  One thing that I'm always curious about with
   every player I work on, is how is cloth weight determined for the spool
   box motor.  I've seen some people recover them with pneumatic cloth,
   and although that provides very little resistance and therefore very
   little air to run it, the cloth I would expect would not hold up in the
   creases and folds for very long.  Using a heavier cloth would increase
   the resistance and therefore increase the amount of air to run it.  I
   try to match the original cloth as close as I can by "mic-ing" (using a
   micrometer) it.  Replacement cloth is usually a little heavier.  I
   really liked the wine colored motor cloth that PPC had years ago, but
   he doesn't carry that stuff anymore.  Any suggestions??

3. I recently looked at a Thiery player that had been rebuilt some time
   ago.  I estimate that the work was done in the 60's because the
   pneumatic cloth is still very pliable but its cracked at the edges
   where ever there's a glue line.  Also, this reasoning is weak I
   realize, but the valves are untouched, and that was the way to go in
   the 50's and 60's.  I've seen this same type of failure on an Ampico in
   a grand that the owner claimed was recovered in the 60's.  Any input
   from anyone out there on what causes the cloth to self-destruct at the
   glue line??

    Regarding the motor on this one, the cloth was cracked at the folds
    on this one.  The weight of the cloth felt about right but it looked
    funny.  It was black, but had a bit of a shine to it, like it had a
    higher nylon content in it than the cotton cloth I've been using from
    Schaff and PPC.

4. I'd like to hear what people have to say about the rebuildability
   of a Krell or Artimus player.  The one with the cat gut valve disk
   hangers, and the self contained valve block pneumatics.  The one with
   the self-destructing metal plates/housings and deteriorating cork
   gaskets...........  fun stuff eh??
