Re: Withdrawing from the Group?!
By Jim Canavan

[ Editor's Note: The remaining messages in the digest are related to
[ the discussion that precipitated Robin Pratt's withdrawal from the
[ group earlier in the week. Although Robin is no longer receiving
[ the digest, I will forward these messages to him. I hope that
[ after the St. Louis AMICA convention, he'll have more time and
[ the interest to participate again.

Jody:

After reading Robin Pratt's request to withdraw, I was both dismayed
and confused... and felt I needed to add my "two cents." I can't
understand why someone would not want to receive this Digest just
because: (1) not every posting was a subject of their particular
interest, and (2) because some peoples' opinions were different from
theirs.

I purchased my player already rebuilt/restored, and although I find the
rebuilding process extremely interesting, would never attempt to tackle
it myself (I rebuilt a reed organ years ago as a college student, and
that was difficult enough!). Likewise, I don't have much interest in
MIDI subjects and technical/computer stuff. I'm far more interested in
discussions of players, rolls, phonographs, organettes, and music
boxes. BUT... the fact that my favorite subjects are not discussed as
often as I'd like in the Digest would never stop me from happily
reading it each morning!

Anyway, just wanted to thank you for your hard work on this
publication, and know that it IS very much appreciated. And my advice
to those who don't find the choice of topics/"direction of the group"
to their taste is: send in some postings on subjects which YOU enjoy,
and let's start discussing them also!!!
