The Corrupt MIDI Influence
By Craig Brougher

I for one hope that Robin Pratt has a change of heart after he
downloads the archives of just the last three weeks alone and reads
what he probably hasn't had an opportunity to see: All kinds of
articles on hot hide glue, valve restoration, player rebuilding, and
tons of stuff yet to come. We haven't even got started, yet! So come
on, Robin-- as publisher of the Amica Bulletin, you might find some
very worthwhile stuff to reprint from this page. More here than
anywhere else. And I don't think that my goals are counter to AMICA's,
Robin. I have been restoring Automatic Musical Instruments for 30
years. Is it a sin to say the "M" word? To consider MIDI an alternative
music source for roll playing pianos?

What do you think is worse, Robin-- talking about original
restoration techniques and MIDI, and having a back and forth discussion
on all angles of it together, or printing technical articles from
supposed experts who cannot then be questioned, challenged, proved
wrong, and corrected, for the sake of having correct archives.

Don't you want to know what I think about Jeffery Morgan's article
on the Ampico one of these days? I believe it is called, ahem, (James,
my monocular, please) "Some Observations On Fundamental Differences
Between Ampico Model B and Prior Reproducing Systems, " Vol 33, No 2.
AMICA Bulletin Mar/ Apr '96.

Is it right? Or is it wrong? And how wrong is it? Boy, It's really
bad! And you're going to miss all the fun, pal. So come on back. We're
just getting started, here. You ain't heard nothin', yet!

What's wrong with Robbie Rhodes opinion of Welte? After all, you
printed Jeffery Morgan's article of the great Welte Fraud in the AMICA
Bulletin twice, I believe--as if once wasn't quite enough! Didn't
Robbie say exactly the same thing in three sentences that required
three pages when Morgan "exposed those con artists for all to see?"
Where do you think the subject came from, Robin?

You are the best publisher I have ever known, frankly. I think you
are just great. You have done things for AMICA that nobody else has
ever been able to touch. Please don't sign out --we appreciate you and
need you very much. You are a good friend and a good rebuilder. Hang in
there.

Craig B.
