Paderewski's Minuet
By Bob Ricco

Having read the discussion of Ampico A vs Ampico B roll rendition
capabilities, I would like to add a thought from my personal
experience. I have a copy of the Paderewski Minuet played by
Rachmaninoff. It is one of my favorites and is usually the one I use
to show off my Knabe Ampico A (a 6'6" grand). I have also heard this
roll on an Ampico B. Are the performances different? Perhaps. Maybe
one can detect subtleties between the two renditions but in either case
the results are magnificent! Who can say which rendition is"correct"
when either is far superior to anything a loudspeaker can produce?

Besides that, it is far more fun to watch the Ampico perform than is to
watch the stereo! - and it is this very fact which makes all of these
AMIs so enjoyable and fascinating. Who would suspect that any of these
assemblages of such unlikely-looking parts could "come to life" and
produce the sounds that they do? In the many years I have pursued my
hobby, this is still a source of wonderment for me.

Regards,

Bob Ricco
