I received my first 88-note Play-Rite rolls (through Playtime's web
site) yesterday, and as promised, here's my "review."  Overall, I'm
extremely pleased with them...in fact, with the exception of a much
nicer graphic treatment of the roll leader (imitates Duo-Art or
Ampico), I'd mistake them for QRS rolls! The edges were straight cut,
and not a bit jagged. As far as the sound...they were fantastic!

My two favorites in the batch:

   1. 1920's song "Old King Tut"...I've got this song on an Edison
      Diamond Disk (with "Barney Google" on the flip side) sung by
      Jones & Hare, and have always loved it. This piano roll has a
      "boogie-woogfie" bass line to it, and is really fun.

   2. "Standard American Airs"...this large roll (a bargain at $9.00)
      has just about every American song you can imagine, from
      "Marching thru Georgia" to "Dixie" to "Star Spangled Banner."
      It's got a very hand-played sound to it too.

The only "minus" to the rolls is the fact that the boxes are thinner
stock than QRS' boxes...but, as I've said before, at a price of $6.50
for small rolls and $9.00 for large ones (plus free shipping by
Playtime), I can live with thinner boxes! Although I'm not abandoning
QRS purchases, I recommend Play-Rite rolls to everyone!
