PlayRite Music
By Jody Kravitz

I had a nice conversation with John Malone at PlayRite in Turlock CA
this afternoon. He's doing well and is about to bring a 3rd perforator
online. He's expanding the breadth of his line. The only thing he's
not doing right now is "new" 88-note roll releases. According to John,
they don't sell. He's still doing 88-note rolls (40 to 50 thousand
rolls per year he said from memory). He talked to me a lot about the
history of his perforators, QRS's, Staffnote (the old PlayRite), and
filled my brain so full I can't spit it all out now. He offerred to
let me interview him some time with a tape recorder running so that I
could make a good article. I'll probably take him up on it. His
description of his setup for doing word rolls makes me want to visit
the factory immediately. He says he will do "tours" from time to
time.

John said the address info I had for PlayRite was not correct.
The ZIP code belongs to the street address, and the P.O. Box
was off by one digit.

	PlayRite Music Rolls, Inc
	P. O. Box 1025
	Turlock, CA 95381

	tel: 209-667-1996
	fax: 209-667-8241

A asked John about the relationship between PlayTime and PlayRite.
John said that PlayRite sold rolls to Robert Malek(PlayTime)'s father
in New York for years and that it was a normal relationship with
a retailer. John says he has sold some rolls to Malek, on the
same kind of "sale to retailer" discount, but hardly at "fire sale"
prices. I asked if it was possible that Robert was liquidating
his father's stock and he said it was possible.
