Re: Of Organs and Band Organs
By Matthew Caulfield

(Hey, Robbie, how does it feel to be in Jody's shoes as editor?)

[ When I'm editing at midnight I make as many goofs as he does! RR ]

I agree with guest editor Robbie's suggestion that it might be wisest to
think of running your theater organ from concert organ rolls rather than
band organ rolls. Depends on the sound you want. I have a tape of
someone's theater organ playing 165 band organ and Wurlitzer APP rolls,
if you want to hear the result. Not bad at all but definitely band
organ.

The main thing to know before making your decision as to roll type is
roll availability -- unless you are content to play the same few tunes
over and over.

As to pressure, band organs are blown at higher pressure than other
organs generally speaking--around 10 inches water.

(Send me your address if you want the tape mentioned above)
