Re: Classical Music for 88-note Piano
By Robbie Rhodes

Karl, I have owned or still own Duo-Art and Ampico reproducing pianos,
but they frequently don't put out the expression which _I_ want to hear!
This isn't because of any technical problem -- sometimes I simply don't
agree with the interpretation.

When that happens, I take the roll to my venerable and responsive
Aeolian pumper piano. With tape over the control holes in the tracker
bar, I can pump accents with my feet and wiggle the levers and have a
good time creating _my_ expression!

Now to your question: where to find classical music for the 88-note
piano.

Answer: get Ampico and Duo-Art and Welte Deluxe reproducing rolls.
There were very few classical rolls published in America after 1920
which weren't reproducing rolls -- the 88-note manufacturers were too
busy selling Pop Songs.
