Ampico Drawer Stabilizer Bar
By Bob Taylor

Joseph Hutter's recent request for a drawer bar is a familiar tune many
of us have "played" before. This is just a note to let Joe know that
these bars come in several styles and are sometimes NOT interchangeable
without modification.

Ampico "A" drawers are wider (47 1/4" bar) than Ampico "B" drawers
(46 3/4" bar). Also, there are several sizes regarding the length of
the swivel arm. Some modification in the drawer attach point can be
made to accommodate these different lengths. In general, if the drawer
attach point is near the center of the drawer side panel, the swival
rod will be about 5 3/4 " long (from pivot to mounting hole). If the
drawer attach point is closer to the drawer back, the swival arm is
shorter.

With the replacement bar mounted on the piano, fully open the drawer.
Swing the bar swival up to the drawer side and extend the swival
slightly less than full reach. This will locate the correct attach
point. Happy hunting!
