Commercialization of MMD?
By Terry Smythe

Jody Kravitz sez:

> Your Comments on Ads

Personally I've never had a problem with ads appearing from time to
time on MMD. And I wonder how many of MMD's subscribers first
learned about it because one of its subscribers cross-posted a FS: ad
appearing in some other newsgroup?

I don't believe we've ever had so many ads that they might be
considered bothersome. There are negatives and positives, but on
balance I fully support Jody's judgement call on whether or not a
commercial ad is appropriate.

It would not surprise me at all to learn that he has been exercising
his editorial prerogative all along with some modest filtering for
the overall good of this special interest group. That's one of the
things that a moderator/editor does.

Jody, you have my vote of confidence.

Sincere regards, and many thanks for keeping MMD thriving and
prospering. It is fine service to the whole world that you provide
for which I'm extremely grateful.

Terry
