New 88-Note Rag Roll
By Stephen Kent Goodman

Dear Friends;

I want to share with you all the "birth" of an absolutely fantastic new
ragtime composition that only exists on 88-note roll by San Francisco
based roll arranger & composer, Eric D. Bernhoft.

Although there are many fine roll arrangers working today, Eric is,
in my opinion, the preeminent RAGTIME roll arranger, having arranged
several vintage numbers in the authentic "fully orchestrated" style of
the late 1900s and 1910s (rolls sold under the name Eighty-Eight Note,
for example). His arranging stands with the best of that era's roll
arrangers- Herman Avery Wade, Mae Brown, George Swift, et al. Now
Eric has introduced an original composition, _Laclede's_Landing_Rag_,
whose title is self-explanatory for those of you familiar with the
legacy of St. Louis ragtime.

This composition utilizes contemporary arranging concepts (such as
building a multi-thematic emotional contour) while not sacrificing
first-generation ragtime qualities and conventions. I highly recommend
it. It is NOT available from this group's midi downloading site, as it
is a commercially offered product. Please support this rare talent and
send your check or money order for $20.00 plus $3 p/h to:

Be sure to request a brochure describing his other arranging
efforts. These rolls will make a good photoplayer sound like
a large Peerless or Berry-Wood orchestrion (except YOU have to
operate the drums & registers ;-) ).
