Re: Svoboda's Nickelodeon Tavern
By Angelo Rulli

Al Svoboda and his wife Flo amassed one of America's first great
collections of pneumatic musical instruments. The saloon was in
business from 1908 until 1986, havin been managed by three
generations.

Many collectors of today had their first exposure to mechanical music
at Svoboda's and many of the fine collections in the Chicago area are
proud to display pieces from Svoboda's.

At the recent Musical Box Society International annual meeting in
Chicago the hospitality suite featured a tribute to Svoboda's and noted
author Art Reblitz wrote a historical summary of the saloon and the
family that managed it as part of that convention exhibit booklet.

Hope this helps.
