Does anyone know how we can be sure that the holes in a particular
roll, or the grooves on a piano phonograph record for that matter, were
produced by the performer whose Great Name appears on the label?  Could
it be that George used a stand-in who could play better than he could,
perhaps Ferde Grofe?

I know that when someone asks -me- to play the piano, I always prefer
to have someone else do it, usually J. Lawrence Cook, or some great,
nameless soul at US Rolls, but once in a joyful while Doug Henderson of
Artcraft.
