These machines are available right now at Sears for quite a bit less
than the above price.  The same company (something like Mr. Christmas)
had one last year that was quite charming.  It used the same continuous
paper roll to play the 15 songs but it was shaped like Santa's house
and workshop.  Animated elves punched the holes and printed the music on
the sheet and it then fed through Santa's player piano.  It was very
cute and I hunted one up to buy.  Incidentally, according to the
literature it actually uses the holes to operate something like
starwheels to pluck a music box comb.  I haven't taken it apart to see
if this is true as it doesn't come apart easily.  Last week, I saw this
year's model at Sears and you are right.  The general public may think
it is cute but anyone interested in any form of automatic music will
get ill just looking at it.  I didn't and won't buy one.
