Hydrocote
By Craig Brougher

Jon Page quoted someone as saying that Hydrocote is a possible option
for piano refinishing. Knowing better than to just accept the claims,
I refinished my own kitchen table with it first. It looked fine for
about a year, but never a really hard finish. Now, around the edges
where hands touch, it is getting permanently discolored as a result of
being exposed to the oils in skin. The table is light oak, and has
several places where hot dishes have caused the finish to break. I
would love to strip this stuff off and do it right, but don't know of
anything that will even touch it, as yet. Does anybody know of a
stripper for this stuff?
