MIDI Decoder MTP-1
By Bob Essex

My request through MMD some weeks ago for information about MIDI decoders
which would enable me to drive a small roll playing organ from a PC, using a
sequencer such as Cakewalk, has borne fruit. Whoopee!

John Wale brought to my home his excellent MTP-1 circuit board which he
proceeded to demonstrate using my system. The device is the very thing I
have been looking for. It fits the bill perfectly in its 32-note state, and
it can be expanded with a second and subsequent boards - in multiples of 32.

The note numbers are programmable so that notes may be omitted, as many small
organ scales are not fully chromatic. The outputs from the printed circuit
board can be used to drive pallet or chest magnets with a voltage range
anything from about 7 to 36 volts.

This was the first time I have met John Wale. He has developed this first
product on a tentative basis, hoping it will find a market and enable him to
produce it commercially.
He is looking for firm interest in the device from mechanical music nuts,
like myself, in order to produce the first batch. The first few will be
produced at about 50 to 60 pounds
sterling (GBP) as a 'ranging shot' but expect this to revised upwards for
later models.

He has got my order. It really is _the business_ and I would reccommend it
to anyone
with dreams of midifying an organ, a roll-punch or perhaps a set of bells!
