There is much interest in the project you inquire about! So much so,
that there is a growing number of manufacturers of "MIDI-IN" boards for
such a purpose. I have endeavored to catalog them as a resource for

Indeed, there are many subscribers to this list who have have installed
some of these boards already; if you have questions regarding a
particular board, this is a great place to ask questions and learn
