QRS Player Piano Software Demo
By Bill Jelen

QRS has a page on the Web, and they offer a free demo piece of software.
I downloaded it a month ago and just got around to unzipping it and
installing it. It is pretty cool. They show a player piano on the
screen. You can select one of 8 MIDI files, and as the MIDI file plays,
the _correct_ keys on the keyboard move, and the _correct_ perforations
scroll through the spoolbox (although the durations are not correct).
Simultaneously, pictures of the QRS factory appear in a slide show above
the piano, along with some advertising verbage. In my opinion, the
software was very well done, and more than worth the price!

I tried to substitute one of George Bogatko's MIDI files for the MIDI
files that came with the program. However, the program somehow detected
that this new MIDI file was not a valid QRS MIDI.

The software can be downloaded from:

 [ Editor's Note:
 [
 [ I've test-driven this software on a 486-25-SX and found it to
[ hopelessly slow and inefficient on a slower machine. I was
[ frustrated by this and didn't try it on a faster machine. Glad
[ to know it works correctly on a fast enough machine. Those with
[ machines as slow as my 486 probably shouldn't waste their time
 [ downloading it.
