Space for Player Piano
By Charles Kossman

Hello All -- I have been reading with pleasure and interest all the stuff
on here about (what I call them) "Player Pianos." I would really like to
get one some day but space limits me. (My wife Shirley also limits me
even more than the space does.)

I mainly collect, or try anyway to collect, disk and cylinder music
boxes. I even have a few down here in Florida. We live in Montreal but
we come down to Highland Beach, Florida, for about four months every year
in order to get away from our cold, miserable weather. Besides that, I
don't ski any more. I'd rather frolic in the warm Atlantic Ocean.

My reason for sending this is: Are there any collectors or users or
whatever you all call yourselves in this area, who are not more than 15 or
20 miles away from Highland Beach, who might like to show us a player
piano or two just so that we will be able to more appreciate the
consideration of squeezing one more item into our home in Montreal.

I have seen advertisements occasionally in Montreal newspapers for player
pianos but they're usually pretty large and would never fit in without
disrupting my music boxes (located around the house). Do player pianos
or reproducing pianos come in small sizes too? I also think that an
electrified one would be best to even consider. (Or is it better to pump
them?)

We will be at the East Coast chapter meeting in Deland, Florida, in
February. We were at the big meeting in Chicago in August/September and
I managed to get three music boxes at that great fun auction. I nearly
got what I call a Monkey Organ but missed out because I couldn't or
wouldn't meet the reserve price. I'll just have to keep on looking.
Anyway, that's it for now. Regards to all,
