Dynavoice Keytop Piano Player
By Roy Ulrich

I know better, but they caught me at a weak moment, so I drug into the
shop today a "Dynavoice" piano player unit that sits on top of the keys,
plugs in a wall socket, and plays standard rolls. This is an old, valued
customer who inherited this thing recently and wants to know if it can be
repaired.

It doesn't play at all, I'm told, and he vaguely remembers his father
having some kind of communication with the manufacturer when they were
still in business and remembers only "something about it overheating".
It's been stored in a very clean but unheated garage for several years.
Before I take it apart, any words of wisdom? Like should I just save
myself some time (grief) and tell him it's not repairable? Thanks in
advance.

[ The plastic turbine pump in some of those designs would melt.
[ An old-timer told me, "If it _smells_ fried, it _is_ fried!"
[ Be prepared to replace the pump, at the least. -- Robbie
