I, for one, am not bored with discussions of roll scanning.  Since I
live in a small apartment and move frequently, keeping a collection of
old instruments would be rather difficult (and probably harmful to the
machines).  I plan to buy a recent vintage piano one day, and would like
to use my parent's collection of rolls to create a music library for the
new piano.  The rolls are in many formats, including Ampico and Duo-Art.
I need to educate myself about which piano is best suited to this and what
approach will be best for converting the old rolls.  So, please keep
discussing roll scanning, Spencer!

 [ You might consider purchasing a solenoid player system, such as
 [ Yamaha Disklavier or similar, so you can play Midi files of the old
 [ rolls.  Presumably you would have the "best of both worlds", ...
 [ except you might miss the fun of pumping the pedals!  -- Robbie
