MIDI is Musical Instrument Digital Interface
By Andy LaTorre

I hate to be a stickler for detail but because I have been into MIDI so
long I would like it to be spelled correctly, in my opinion. MIDI stands
for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and so, therefore, all the
letters should be capitalized. Not Midi. It is not a word. So, there.
That's my word for the day.

[ When one speaks of the _interface_, it is "MIDI". According to the
[ document published by the MIDI Association, "Standard MIDI Files"
[ (SMF) are of file type "Midi" or "MID" or "mid".
 [
[ When Andy says, "I have been into MIDI so long I would like it to be
[ spelled correctly," he uses MIDI as an activity or pastime. There is
[ no "official" guidance for this use, so we'll just watch the magazines
[ and see what evolves -- which is what the dictionary editors do!
 [ Fortunately there's no confusion. -- Robbie
