Player Piano Company
By Doug Adam

One last word ... I agree with both Fritz Gellerman and Damon Atchinson
that we need Player Piano Company to stick around because we need the
source, so I guess we just bite our tongue and carry on.

To make one thing clear, however: Durrell Armstrong personally has always
been very courteous and helpful when I talked to him and I agree with
Fritz Gellerman that Durrell should be recognized in some way.

P.S. I can't quite buy Fritz's statement that it's faster to operate
without the computer.

 [ Editors note:
 [
[ We don't know the era when PPCo struggled with the computer, Doug.
[ The first cheap mini-computers appeared in the mid-70s, with eager
[ programmers creating application programs for small businesses.
[ There was a lot of heartache then because the programmer didn't
[ know what the customer _really_ needed, and the customer didn't
[ really know how his manual methods worked. Now, twenty years later,
[ the applications programs for small businesses have matured
 [ considerably.
 [
[ Nonetheless there are lots of stores like PPCo who manage just fine
 [ without a computer, especially when it's a one-man operation.
[ True, it's probably not as fast, but some folks prefer "life in
[ the slow lane." It's less exhausting!
