Hard-to-find Books
By Nancy Fratti

Chris Kalstone asked about purchasing a copy of the "Treasury of
Mechanical Music." The last copy I've seen for sale sold at the MBSI
National auction in Chicago for $500 ! Please note that there was
heavy bidding by a German member who REALLY wanted it for their Society's
library -- but there was also one other person bidding against him !
I've not had a copy to sell in over 12 years! I suggest trying a large
library if you need access to the info in that particular book.

Someone else asked for a copy of the "Marvelous World of Music Machines."
While I don't have a copy in hand right now, you might try contacting
Jere Ryder in New Jersey at 908-273-1513. They might have a copy.

The "Encyclopedia of Mechanical Musical Instruments" has been out-of-
print for over a year and there is no projected reprint date. I am
compiling a list of people who want that particular book so that I can
show there is still interest and that it would be worthwhile to reprint.
Anyone wishing a copy of the Encyclopedia when it is reprinted can send
me their name and address and I'll let them know when (or if) it is
available.

[ Nancy, I think that you have a worthwhile new service here, something
[ like "Book-buyer's Ombudsman"! Put my name on your list: I'll pay
[ $100 myself for a copy of "Treasury of Mechanical Music." I wonder
[ how many orders are needed to convince the publisher it should be
 [ reprinted. -- Robbie Rhodes
