Introduction
By Herbert Miller

Hello Jody and Robbie, I have been on your subscriber list for a few
months and have enjoyed the contributions of MMD subscribers greatly.

I have been restoring player pianos part time for about 12 years but 18
months ago we opened our store and it is now my full time occupation. If
any subscribers which to learn more about me and our store, we have a
site at: http://penscape.com.au/coolmill

I am really writing this note to provide a little more information about
the Stuart Piano. The television article that Michael Waters alerted us
to seemed to raise more questions than it answered. There was no mention
on the type of action, scale design, frame casting etc. The strings on
the Stuart, rather than being directed around the pins after being
hitched, are instead held in place by a horizontal pin. The television
program presenter described it "as being similar to frets on a guitar,
allowing for a more precise contact for the string with the piano frame".
There is a site on the Internet, which again is small on details, which
subscribers may be interested in. This is at:

    http://www.avcc.edu.au/avcc/pubs/univation/jun96/art7.htm

Thank-you again for this service,

Regards, Herbert Miller.

[ Welcome aboard, Herbert. This new information on the new Stuart
[ design is quite interesting. Keep a watch on it, please! :-)
