Player Piano Company
By Jack M. Conway

I am glad to see that so many members of the group appreciate the
existence of PPCo. With the last item I purchased I too received a
little red note. It took me less than a second to think to myself OOPS!
I then with a large smile I unwrapped the reproduction Coinola take up
spool ladder chain drive gear to replace the one that exploded on my
Unified Reproduco pipe organ.

The day that it exploded it was like a rifle shot going off. The gear was
in dozens of pieces some ten feet from the organ. I had just had work
done on the organ and it was really a joy to hear. My heart sunk when the
gear let loose. I was thinking what will it cost me to have this gear
re-engineered and produced or how long it would take locate one in
someones parts pile.

A letter to Durrell Armstrong asking if he happened to have them,
although they were not listed in the PPCo. catalog, resulted in my
unwrapping the replacement gear for $7.95 plus shipping. Long live
Durrell and PPCo.
