I was cleaning up things and found a message from Nancy Fratti about the
book "Draaiorgels" (2 Jan 1997).  She writes that the book came from
Utrecht, and I guess she means to say that the book is published by the
museum "Van speelklok tot pierement", which indeed can be found at
Utrecht.

However, the book was published by the "Kring van Draaiorgelvrienden",
(KDV) on the occasion of their 40th anniversary as well as the 30
birthday of the "Leo Warnies Stichting" (LWS).  The LWS is a foundation
which, as its main-activity, undertakes all kind of activities in order
to save the old mechanical organs from leaving the country.  One way of
doing so is fund-raising, and buying an organ if it must be sold.

Since even very important organs did (and still do) leave Holland, and
since the Dutch "draaiorgel" is a very special kind of mechanical organ,
it is important to try to preserve the old ones.

By the way: I still owe you some translations of terms.  You will get
them, but I would like to work this out.  The term "tracker-organ", to
mention one term, is not used in Europe in the way you in the USA seem to
use it.  I hope that a somewhat delayed response will be welcome too?
