Wanted: Cassettes for Lowrey Rhythm Organ
By Rick Cooley

A life-long collector friend, with some of the finest miniature music
boxes in the world, just acquired a 1970's Lowrey Organ. It has two
manuals, a rhythm section and a Bell and Howell recorder/playback unit
installed near the rhythm push-button section. The last time I heard one
of these instruments play was over 20 years ago.

I remember how "great" it sounded. That was just about the time my wife
and I were completing our 10th player piano for resale, a "labor of
unprofitable love". Remembering the organ, we thought, "how easy it was
to just plug in a cassette and listen to this "wonderful" organ play. Of
course a lot has happened since then and we now have a MIDI organ (2000
pipes) of our own, ca. 1921, Aeolian Opus 1492.

There is one major problem, however, with my friend's organ. This organ,
acquired at auction, has no cassettes. Is there anyone out there who has
some of these cassettes around that they are willing to part with, for a
reasonable price, of course? Know where my friend can find some at
reasonable prices? Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

We have tried the local Lowrey dealers and they just chuckle. No luck!
My friend (a very prominent MBSI and AMICA member (without computer)
awaits your "rescue" at my e-mail address. Thanks in advance.
