Wurlitzer Mandolin Pianorchestra Rolls
By Walt Kehoe

The Pianorchestra roll recutting project which Mr. Goodman asked about
was initiated by Bob Gilson, a member of The Musical Box Society. You
can look him up in the directory or e-mail me for his number.

There were twenty subscribers to the original project for one hundred
rolls. An additional subscription of thirty two (mostly Ragtime) rolls
was offered to all subscribers after the masters for the first rolls were
made.

Play-Rite did all of the recutting and made rolls with spools ends and
leader rings for single-roll machines. They also made rolls with linen
leaders and bars for automatic roll-changer machines. Play-Rite did a
fantastic job on reproducing the original boxes, including the labels on
the box and roll.

I have enjoyed the 650 or more song titles many times over. I will be
delighted to let any members of the MMD hear any of them on my fully
restored Wurlitzer Mandolin Pianorchestra Model 33a whenever they are in
the New York Long Island area. Just drop me a e-mail message and we'll
talk.
