Disney World Collection
By Stephen Kent Goodman

Congratulations to Martin Roenigk in the acquisition of the Disney
Collection. This was originally purchased by Disney in the 1950's out of
the old A. C. Raney hoard in Whittier CA. For many years they were on
display at California's Disneyland, where they were played to death by
the merciless public, and often received the "Disney Touch" such as
replacing the goddess heads with bear heads on a very rare Peerless
cabinet flute piano, to better fit into the arcade at the Bear Country
attraction.

I have always felt that either a private collection or a museum is the
place for rare, original instruments, leaving build-ups and nickelodeon
conversions for the public places. That way, the music and the mechanism
is shared with the general public, but an original machine is spared the
beating it normally receives from hard commercial service.

Cheers,

S. K. Goodman
