Actually, Mark, I'm going to minimize the comments.  

Although many readers said they enjoy the comments (and my humor?!),
that's not the purpose of the Digest.  The flow of letters from our
authors is too important; I don't want to risk impeding it with the
distraction of an unnecessary remark.

As readers reported, the editor's comments can alter the mood of the
letter or add a bias.  I'll mostly just respond to questions now,
and occasionally add a remark which I hope doesn't offend anyone,
nor keeps others from responding.  Otherwise I'll write my own
personal responses in the following Digest, like everyone else.
