Player Restoration Narration
By Roger Waring

I am about to start restoring a ca. 1920 player. I wondered if it would
be of interest to narrate progress through the medium of the Digest,
whilst at the same time soliciting advice?

This way I could learn a lot from other, more experienced technicians,
whilst passing on the knowledge gained. The first (?) Internet
restoration!

I would plan it something like this:

1. I inform subscribers of the instrument's background, details, and
general condition.

2. I outline a broad plan of action, from initial inspection and
materials ordering right through to completion.

3. I invite comment, advice, and anything else of relevance from
subscribers.

4. I carry out the work accordingly and report back to subscribers
regularly on progress and any problems. (Say, twice a week - I do not
want to clog up the MMD or monopolise it.)

What do you think?

Best Regards to all
