Last time we had our piano tuned the tuner pointed out that some notes
were farther out of tune than usual because the tuning pins had become
loose as the wood they are screwed into has aged.  He said that there are
two ways to remedy the problem, one being over-sized pins, and the other
being some sort of solution you pour around the loose pins to swell the
wood after you lay the piano down on its back.  Anybody out there have
any comments or preferences about that sort of problem?  Or possible
other, better solutions?

The piano is a large upright Melville Clark serial #5023, dated at 1902
by number, but it has patent dates cast into it as late as 7 or 8 of
1904, leading me to believe it is not 1902.  It is the somewhat rare
universal player variety, and plays 58n/65n/88n rolls and the very wide
Apollo 88n rolls as well, so it is well worth investing in to ensure
good preservation.  Also, anybody know of anyone qualified to make such
repairs & judgment calls in the Seattle, WA, area?
