Symphonion Changer Music Box
By Nancy Fratti

Hi Bruce! Nancy Fratti here - music box dealer/restorer/supplier/etc.

Your brief description (in MMD 970227) of the music box the antique
dealer has *sounds like* it could be a Symphonion Changer in a clock.
The disc size could be anywhere from a 19"+ on up to a 27-1/2 inches
diameter.

Symphonion made these large size boxes with and without bells. I've
heard of a few Symphonion changers, but not in the larger sizes; usually
in the 13-5/8". Knowing the mechanics of the changer mechanisms and all
the levers & rods needed to activate a changer, it would be interesting
to see just how and where they put the bells on this piece! Any chance of
getting some pictures?

I think the dealer wants to retire easily, with the price of $100,000!
There's no way to know if he's crazy until we know just what he has.
Anyone asking *that* kind of money should be able to describe it to
a "T"! If you get any more information on it I'd be interested in knowing
about it.

It's good to see some music box 'stuff' on the MMD!
