I have found the discussion of Pin-Tite of great interest as I have a
friend whose wrest-plank (sorry, 'pin block') needs attention.  Many
pins are becoming looser and tunings do not hold well.  The piano is old,
and fairly ordinary, and not worth restoring fully; so Pin-Tite has its
attractions.

I have some genuine Pin-Tite but have delayed applying it because of the
possible problems in subsequent tunings.  Is it a one off solution or is
it really a permanent one?  I am therefore glad to have the for's and
against's from experienced tuners.  On balance it looks like it is okay,
provided great care is taken with its application.

I found Craig's arguments well thought out, and it was interesting to
note the support from (Dr) John.  Maybe the problems that other tuners
have experienced have just been the result of a sloppy application by a
predecessor?
