Has anyone ever compiled a list of mechanical musical instruments in the
movies.  It would be fun to have a master list and I would be glad to
compile and put back on MMD if I could get some help.

One of the fun movies I have seen is a 1-hour documentary called
"Beethoven Lives Upstairs", which, of course, is a story about Ludwig
Beethoven.  It shows, on a couple of occasions, an organ grinder playing
before a crowd.  John Goodman (from Springfield, MO) played in a movie
that featured a musical box but I can't remember the name.

Anyway, is this worth anything ?  Let me know and I will catalog by
instrument, movie, etc.
