BAB Organ Rolls
By Marc Elbasani

Hi everyone, I've heard that many people have had their band-organs
converted from B.A.B. music systems to play the Wurlitzer rolls simply
because they could not locate any new sources for the B.A.B rolls.

Ed Openshaw, of Rumney, New Hampshire, has the perforator and steel dies
necessary to make the recuts. Unfortunately, he is now working on a
restoration project. However, if he has an adequate demand for rolls,
he will probably proceed to cut them a whole lot sooner.

Personally, I love the B.A.B. music. I feel it is a little more lyrical
than most music. And it would be a shame if there were no more band-
organs it could play on. Mind you, I have been told by a few B.A.B.
fans that Artizan and North Tonawanda music is the same as B.A.B., and
that the only difference is the name. I'm not entirely sure about this,
but you might want to check into that, if any of you are short of rolls.

Those of you who would like rolls, please respond and I will let Ed know
that there are still enthusiasts like you and I who still appreciate the
music. Once again, should you request rolls, this won't take Ed away
from his restoration job, but it will be a great encouragement.

I want to take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation for
the dialogue that takes place here in the "Foxtail" group. Mechanical
music is such a small hobby and information is hard to come by. Often
times I get frustrated because there simply aren't any answers regarding
the action of valves and pneumatics, etc. A page like this makes the
hobby much easier and probably keeps the interest moving. Special thanks
to Jody Kravitz for his assistance and maintenance of this page.

Warmest regards, Marc Elbasani
