The "T" in "WurliTzter"
By Matthew Caulfield

Actually the large T in the Wurlitzer logo means nothing. It is merely
a characteristic of the logo design, and should no more be used when
writing the word "Wurlitzer" than should the R in the name have its leg
lengthened, as is done in the logo.

Logos are designs, made unique by artistry in order to make
non-registrable words registrable with the Patent and Trademark Office,
as well as for other commercial and artistic reasons, perhaps.

It makes me cringe when people write "WurliTzer." I have letters from
Farny Wurlitzer himself, and he didn't do that, when signing his name.
