Introduction
By Andy Hood

Hello mechanical music folk. My name is Andy Hood and I have recently
subscribed to the Digest.

I have been interested in music and mechanical musical instruments for
many years. My first experience of a player piano was when I was in the
Scouts and used to pedal furiously away at a rather asthmatic player
piano which had sadly seen better days! (I think it was rescued by one
of the other Scout's fathers, saving it from the fate of many other
pianos that came this way: being turned into firewood in piano smashing
contests!)

I currently have an Aeolian Pianola upright which is undergoing major
repair and restoration on both piano and player actions. I have recently
acquired a Canadian Victorian Harmonium which was going so cheap at the
local auction that I couldn't resist it! Like the Pianola it requires
some renovation although it does still play, but rather weakly. I am
also interested in Midi systems, having purchased a Kawai synthesizer
some years ago.

I look forward to contributing to the Digest in the future.

Regards, Andy Hood
