Value of Smith and Barnes Player
By Ginny Russell

I received the following message as if by magic, likely from a web search
that put these folks into my web site. Michel's Piano Atlas has a ref-
erence that suggests that the metal plate #165402 makes it built in 1917.
However, I would have expected the serial number to be the #121462
imbedded in the wood, making it 1912. Other than Craig's outstanding
orchestrion build-up, I've never encountered a Smith & Barnes. These
folks are not on MMD, so if anybody can help them, please Cc: MMD on a
direct reply.

Regards, Terry Smythe

Subject: Checking out values of player pianos

We have a Smith & Barnes player that is in display furniture condition.
We found 2 numbers inside. 165402 on a metal plate and 121462 embedded
in the wood. How can we find the market value? We also have a Packard
pump organ. Thanks for any help you might provide.
