Electrical Safety
By Bob Essex

Hi Jody. Seeing the recent discourse on electrical safety reminds me of
when I used to regularly visit the Electronics Engineering department of
one of our Universities here in the midlands UK. It was in a new
building which had not been completely finished due to lack of money.

The head of department told me that he was concerned that students were
working with high voltage equipment on the benches and the floor was bare
concrete with no insulated covering. He wrote to the University
authority expressing his complaint.

They replied that there was no problem as all the concrete reinforcing
bars were adequately earthed (grounded). Isn't education a wonderful
thing! Hope this helps!
