Printing Words on Rolls
By Herbert Miller

I have been re-reading the discussion in the Digest late last year about
the problems associated with modern day methods of printing words on
rolls. Such problems seem to revolve around maintaining accuracy with a
computer printer over the length of the roll, as well as speed of
printing.

But I don't understand how one goes about getting the words in the
correct position in the first place. Is there software available that
allows you to have the rolls up on your screen while you edit words?

I have been thinking about the possibility of scanning into the computer
a 'master roll' with words hand-written in at the correct positions then
editing with a stencil style font. Does anybody have any ideas or
pointers regarding how to get the words in the correct position
initially?
