Organ in "House of the Seven Gables"
By Philip Jamison

The organ which Hawthorne describes (see Digest 970916) was a type
popular in the 19th century. I've seen several by Bruder.

A couple of German makers produce this same organ today: Hansjorg Leible
of Holzen, and Franz Oehrlein of Mainz. The former uses book music, the
latter uses pinned barrels as in Hawthorne's day.

[ Marvelous! Thanks, Philip -- we sure get great feedback in the Digest!
